The villagers’ actions in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, have sparked outrage as a distressing video circulates on social media. In the video, villagers are seen mistreating a sick leopard, with some attempting to ride the weakened creature and others brandishing sticks. This heart-wrenching incident prompted swift action from local forest officials.
The leopard, visibly unwell, became the unfortunate subject of photographs as some villagers tried to approach and even touch the ailing animal. Shockingly, one individual even attempted to mount the suffering leopard. Following the incident’s exposure, forest officials stepped in to rescue the ailing creature, promptly transporting it to the Indore city zoo.
Riding a leopard:
Forest officials have reported that the leopard’s condition is critical, as it struggles for survival. Vikas Mahaur, the superintendent of the forest department’s Kheni sanctuary in Dewas, revealed that the rescue operation took place in Ikalera village, approximately 80 kilometers from Indore. This incident unfolded last Tuesday and has since gained widespread attention through a video shared by PTI.
Leopard was sick:
In light of this disturbing incident, authorities are cautioning the public against approaching sick wild animals in the interest of personal safety. The video of this distressing event is now spreading rapidly across social media platforms, igniting public anger and concern.
